Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho believed that blood money must be taken from irresponsible drunken drivers who kill innocent people on roads.
“In some other countries, such drivers are made to pay blood money. For example, if the deceased husband and wife were government servants, they find how many years of service were remaining and how much they would earned and how much the family would have gained. This should be made the responsibility of the driver who was responsible for this accident, and he must be made to pay the money so that family does not suffer.”
“Even though you cannot compensate the life of an innocent person by money, but it needs to be covered financially. Otherwise, the person will go to the court, manipulate the police and come out of it without punishment,” said Godinho.
