One week after shutting academics, the Education department on Monday allowed all teaching and non-teaching staff of schools to stay at home in view of the rising Covid cases.
The circular issued by acting director D R Bhat says, "all the teaching and non-teaching staff shall not attend their schools with immediate effect and until further orders”.
The circular adds that the work of preparing and declaring results, so also counseling and teaching process if any, shall be attended to in the online mode as per a pre-decided schedule.
Several teachers, particularly seniors, who were vulnerable to contracting the dreaded Coronavirus had raised a hue and cry, trying to impress upon the department that physical attendance in schools would serve no purpose.
