Focus on fighting Covid, not loss of biz to casino, night clubs: AAP to govt

PANAJI

Aam Aadmi Party while noting the surge in Covid positive cases in Goa appealed to the government to immediately start vaccinating people above the age of 18 instead of waiting till May 1 to start this programme.

AAP Goa Convener Rahul Mhambre pointed out that in the last three days more than 4000 people have tested positive for Covid and given the fact that government has to trace and test people who have been in close proximity to those who tested positive the number of people to be tested works out to around 20,000 per day.

Given the fact that home isolation is a norm, he demanded the government provide isolation facilities by hiring banquet halls and other places so that people who cannot isolate themselves at home can be provided with isolation facilities.

He also demanded that the isolation kit must be handed over to the patient immediately after he or she tests positive for Covid as even a delay of one day could be crucial.

Rahul said the government’s refusal to enforce Covid negative certificate for those entering Goa is unclear and said the argument that economic activity cannot be stopped is shallow as protecting the live of Goans ought to be the first priority.

He pointed out that casinos and night club are hotspots for spreading Covid and said the government’s intent on continuing with them smacks of collusion and ulterior motive.

Besides, Rahul pointed out that desperate messages seeking plasma donors are seen on social media and asked the government to send an urgent message to all likely plasma donors to donate plasma as the government has data of persons recovered from Covid who can be possible donors of plasma.

He also reiterated the AAP demand that the government release a regular bulletin stating various information about Covid including availability of Remdevisir drug, oxygen cylinders and hospital beds in public as well as private hospitals.
