Under ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ programme, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India along with West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur in association with banglanatak dot com is presenting Folk Safar in Goa from March 6 to 8 at three different venues, simultaneously “ the International Centre Goa (ICG) at Dona Paula, Museum of Goa (MoG) at Pilerne and Sadhana Dell ‘Arte at Merces. The programme has free entry for all.
At ICG, the programme will begin with the Langa music on March 6 (6.30 pm - 8 pm), Kalbelia song and dance on March 7 (5.30 pm -6.30 pm) and Baul music, Manganiyar music on March 8 (6.30 pm - 8.30 pm). At MoG, there will be Kalbelia song and dance, Manganiyar music on March 6 and Baul music, Langa music on March 7 from 7 pm to 8.30 pm, both days. At Sadhana Dell ‘Arte there will be handicraft: workshop and demonstration from 12 noon to 8 pm and talk and performance from 4 pm onwards. Here, on March 6 there is Baul music at 4 pm, Manganiyar music at 4 pm and Langa music at 4 pm and Kalbelia song and dance at 6 pm. Langa music, Manganiyar music and Kalbelia music are all art forms from Rajasthan whereas Baul music is from West Bengal. The handicrafts include Patachitra of Pingla, West Bengal, Durrie of Salawas, Rajasthan, Lavo Mandri of Avedem (Goa), Madhubani paintings from Bihar, Shola of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal and basketry of Malda, West Bengal.
