The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has scheduled a two-day workshop for teachers of the history subject in view of the newly implemented history textbooks for Class XI students.
The current academic year has included the historic 1583 Cuncolim revolt in the now-revised textbooks, which have been made available in the open market this week.
A circular by the Goa Board Secretary V B Naik informs that the workshop is slated to be held on June 21-22 at the institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji.
“This workshop will be on the newly implemented History Text Book for Class XI, prepared by GBSHSE,” reads the order, directing the heads of all higher secondary schools “to relieve concerned teachers to attend the workshop on time.”
The textbook comprises history of the valiant fight of the Chieftains of Cuncolim against the Portuguese, which the Cuncolkars consider the country’s first war of Independence against colonial rule.
