MARGAO
As a delegation of Congress workers descended at the SGPDA retail market on Thursday, Congress leader Elvis Gomes wondered why the government has not sanctioned funds towards the upkeep and maintenance of the market when it had spent around Rs 84 lakh on an event management for cleaning of the Miramar beach last year.
Terming the situation at the SGPDA retail market as pathetic and unhygienic, Gomes expressed his shock over the situation when a 5TPD bio-methanation is being operated by the Margao Municipality in the PDA market.
The Congress workers handed over a memorandum to the PDA Chairman, MLA Krishna Salkar to take steps to improve the market condition on priority.
Saying the PDA Chairman has promised to bring about a turnaround in the retail market complex within 10-15 days, Gomes hoped the PDA will honour its promise in the interest of the shoppers from Salcete and South Goa.
