MARGAO
A woman from Fatorda has been robbed of her gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lakh by two unknown persons who impersonated as police officers.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening near the Saket Nirvana building in Fatorda, when the victim, Jaishila Kamat, a resident of Fatorda, was stopped by two unknown individuals with a common intention, who introduced themselves as police officers.
The duo informed the complainant that two days earlier, a woman had been murdered and the gold worn by the deceased had been stolen. They then persuaded the complainant to remove four old gold bangles, worth approximately Rs 2.5 lakh, and wrapped them in a white paper, which they had with them. They later handed the wrapped bangles back to the complainant.
However, when the complainant opened the white paper, she discovered that the original bangles had been replaced with duplicate ones.
Further investigation is in progress.
