Anjuna Police have successfully busted an interstate mobile theft gang, recovering stolen property worth approximately Rs 4 lakh, including mobile phones and a MacBook.
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the theft, which occurred on November 18 in Anjuna.
According to the police, the complainant, Vikas Khadav from Rajasthan, alleged that two unidentified individuals broke into his rented house at Gaunwadi, near Hotel Bougainvillea, Anjuna, between 8.50 am and 10 am on November 18. The suspects allegedly forced open the door and stole an iPhone 14 (Rs 80,000), an iPhone 7 (Rs 40,000), and a MacBook (Rs 1,15,000), amounting to a total loss of Rs 2.35 lakh.
A case was registered under Sections 331(3) and 305 r/w 3(5) of the BNS Act, 2023.
Following the complaint, the Anjuna Police launched an investigation and uncovered information pointing to the involvement of an interstate mobile theft gang.
Using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, the police apprehended two accused in Canacona while they were attempting to flee the State.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kumar Dodderi (20) and Sandeep Siddanamatti (30), both residents of Shivamogga, Karnataka.
During the investigation, the police recovered nine high-end mobile phones of various brands, in addition to the stolen iPhones and MacBook belonging to the complainant. The total value of the recovered items is estimated at Rs 4 lakh.
Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the gang's operations and any possible accomplices.
