MARGAO
Days after the Director of Health Services warned of any interference at the Hospicio hospital, Margao, the Shadow Council for Margao on Thursday questioned the decision of the Health services in granting the Hospicio hospital to the film industry for film shooting.
The SCM also questioned the seriousness of the Directorate of Health Services in maintenance of the Hospicio Hospital complex.
SCM Convener Savio Coutinho said that the department cannot plug a water leakage inspite of bringing the same to their notice, demanding to know what sort of care they will take of this Heritage structure.
He said the department finds extra interest in granting the Hospital premises to the film industry for film shooting, to earn some revenue, but the department has no much concern how the premises are misused by the worker's and the film crew.
The SCM statement comes following the warning of the department a week ago, making charges of interference at the Hospital premises.
Coutinho pointed out that the Archdiocese had submitted a proposal to the government to allot a portion of the Hospicio Hospital to set up a care centre, which has still not been considered by the government.
“Had the request of the Archdiocese been considered, the premises would have been given due attention, however the health department is more keen in handing over the premises for film shooting, Coutinho charged.
He demanded that the health department inspect the premises and take appropriate steps to protect the premises from the ensuing monsoons.
