Kerala man held for burglaries in Pernem

A man from Kerala has been arrested in connection with burglaries at three shops in Pernem.

According to Pernem police, burglars had broken into the mobile shop sometime between May 17 and May 18. Police had registered a case under Sections 380, 454, 457 R/w 34 IPC.

A few days ago, Pernem police had arrested one accused, Jinson Joseph of Idduki-Kerala and were on the lookout for the other accused, Adam (Billa) Bilal (28) of Kunnur-Kerala.

Police received information on August 30 that Bilal was hiding in the Arambol area and a team led by PI Jivba Dalvi nabbed him.

During interrogation, police said Bilal confessed to his involvement in burglaries at three shops at Tuem, Arambol and Torxem in Pernem. In one case, a cashew shop was ransacked and valuables worth Rs 56,000 were stolen, while in another case, a laptop and cash worth Rs 30,000 were stolen.

Pernem police recovered 4 mobile phones, 8 memory cards and other accessories including pen drives and cashew packets, cash of Rs 12,000 from the accused.

A scooter was also recovered from the accused and it was later revealed that Anjuna police had registered an FIR of theft in connection with the scooter.

The total value of items recovered is Rs 1.2 lakh. Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi, SDPO Gajanan Prabhudesai and SP North Shobit Saxena.
