Power Minister Nilesh Cabral has said his former cabinet and party colleague, Michael Lobo, who joined the Congress on Tuesday after leaving the BJP, had been “pampered too much” by all three BJP chief ministers during the last 10 years of the BJP government even though Lobo had criticised the government on various fronts.
"He was a pampered boy during the tenure of late Manohar Parrikar, Laxmikant Parsekar and Pramod Sawant. In fact, Parrikar pampered him even more. Lobo used to boast that Parrikar is from Parra and he is also from Parra. All his work in Calangute constituency was done by these chief ministers,” said Cabral, while speaking to reporters.
“I was aware that Lobo was never loyal to the BJP and would shift to some other party, but the three CMs gave him too much importance in the party.”
Cabral taunted Lobo by congratulating him for leaving the party as many leaders were hurt because of him.
“After the Cabinet meeting, although the chief minister has to speak on decisions in the cabinet, Lobo used to make comments on various issues related to Goa.”
He also refuted Lobo’s allegations that the BJP government had not done work in his Calangute constituency.
“During BJP government, many works in Calangute constituency were done by the chief minister. As power minister, I can say that many power-related works have been done in Calangute constituency,” said Cabral.
Cabral Lobo would have no future by shifting to the Congress.
“If Lobo joins the Congress, I can imagine the future of that party,” said Cabral.
“BJP workers in Calangute will work to ensure that the BJP candidate will 100 percent win in the constituency. Moreover, Bardez is the stronghold of BJP and all candidates of BJP will get elected.”
Cabral also rejected rumours that he is also leaving the BJP and said these rumours were being deliberately spread.
"BJP is a party with discipline. I am a loyal BJP worker and am not leaving the BJP,” insisted Cabral.
