A Verla-Canca resident has been arrested for allegedly hurting the religious feelings of a community through an audio clip and circulating it on social media.
According to Mapusa Police, the accused Wilson Fernandes, a resident of Verla-Canca used abusive words and statements in his audio clip and hurt the sentiments of another community.
“Fernandes intentionally made an audio message and used abusive words allegedly to promote enmity between two religions by hurting religious sentiments,” police said.
The complainant, Siddharth Mandrekar, resident of Duler, came across the audio clip and objected to it. He demanded an offence be registered against the accused.
Mapusa police registered an offence under section 153 (A) (1) (a), 295-A and 298 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused and arrested him.
