The Transport Department has asked the Mapusa civic body to impound the stray cattle which take refuge in the Mapusa KTC bus-stand, causing hindrance to commuters and traffic.“The stray cattle are roaming around the Mapusa bus-stand and also take shelter in the built-up area of the bus stand thereby causing hindrance and danger to the commuters and the traffic,” said Nancy Fernandes, Deputy Director, Directorate of Transport, in a letter to the Chief Officer of Mapusa Municipal Council.
“You are requested to impound the cattle and handover them to the Animal Welfare Organisation or take necessary action in the matter to avoid any untoward incident,” she added.
A herd of stray cattle was spotted at the Mapusa bus-stand taking refuge under the KTC shed during the rains.
The nuisance created by the stray cattle at the bus-stand was recently highlighted in the media.
GOACAN had raised the issue of the stray cattle by writing to various authorities including the Directorate of Transport.
