A group of multi-tasking staffers stage on a dharna at the South Goa district hospital in protest against the government’s failure to provide them jobs after taking care of Covid patients over the last year and a half.
The MTS workers received the support of Aam Aadmi Party leader Pratima Coutinho, who has warned Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister to take action within seven days or face a sustained dharna at the South district hospital.
The MTS workers contended that they have not been considered the posts in the health department despite putting in hard works and risking their lives during the first two waves of the pandemic.
“When Covid patients were being shunned by everyone, we had taken care of these patients for the last one year and a half. In return, what we have received from the government were commendable certificates, when we had asked for permanent jobs in the health department”, they said.
The workers further pointed out that most of the jobs advertised by the Health department are being filled up, ignoring their pleas for regular jobs in the department.
AAP leader Pratima Coutinho along with the MTS workers had gone to the South Goa district hospital to meet the Medical Superintendent Dr Deepa Corriea since the staffers did not get an appointment with the Chief Minister and the Health Minister.
