Social activist Menino Fernandes on Saturday said he would not be cowed down by the arson incident at Nessai, as he vowed to expose the departments and officials for failing to discharge their statutory duties.
Expressing shock and surprise that the Maina Curtorim police were not quick in registering an FIR in the arson case, Menino said he would continue to fight and expose the officials and agencies involved in corruption.
“The act of setting ablaze my two two-wheelers was an attempt to silence me. This is not just an attempt to set afire the two-wheelers, but to target me personally since the bikes were parked right below my house,” he told the media.
Suspecting a hidden hand behind the lone miscreant who set ablaze the two-wheelers, the activist said it is now for the police to investigate and bring the culprits to book. “I would have been killed if the fire had spread to my house. I expect the police to take firm action and bring the culprits to book,” he said.
In the past, the activist had dragged police officials before the State Police Complaint Authority (SPCA) for their roles in the number of cases which he has been fighting in the courts.
