Saying that the new Raj Bhavan building is not for the governor, but for those coming from Delhi, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai on Thursday said it is for the government to decide on its priority, whether to build a Raj Bhavan annexe building by spending Rs 40 crore or spend the money on something else.He further said the governor will not stay in the new Raj Bhavan building, adding that the annexe building is being built for the VIPs coming to the state from Delhi.
“I have nothing much to say on the matter and it is for the government to take a call whether construction of a new Raj Bhavan is a priority or to sanction the DSSS pension for the beneficiaries, including the elderly and the disabled,” he said.
He added: “Whether Raj Bhavan building for the government is a priority or something else is for the government to take a call. It is for the government to explain the people of Goa on the floor of the Assembly and it is for the opposition to raise such issues on the floor of the House."
Citing a case pertaining to Fatorda constituency, wherein the North main sewerage pipeline is underway costing Rs 300 crore, he said the project is important to stop contamination of underground water. “Some other person would have built a huge building with the money, but what is important is that government should decide on the priorities,” he said.
