Nigerian arrested for possessing drugs in Assagao

Anjuna police have arrested Solomon Ubabuko Ugochukwu (43), a Nigerian residing at Assagao, on charges of possessing drugs worth Rs 1.8 lakh.

Anjuna police had received information that the suspect was involved in a drugs deal and raided a site at Majhalwada-Assagao. Police arrested the accused near his rented residence and found 18.18 grams of drugs valued at Rs 1.8 lakh which were hidden in a scooter.

Police arrested the accused and seized the drugs and the scooter.

PSI Saish Shetgaonkar is investigating the case under the guidance of Police Inspector Suraj Gavas.

According to sources, Calangute police had arrested Solomon on drugs charges in December 2012. He was arrested along with an accomplice in October 2013 for a similar offence, but was acquitted in that case in April 2016 due to lack of evidence.

Later in August 2016, the Hyderabad police arrested him along with six Nigerian nationals. In March 2020, Solomon along with Valentine Ezezie alias David (Congo) were arrested in Assagao in connection with drugs worth crores of rupees.
