Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo has come under fire from a local resident for allegedly failing to install a mandatory sound monitoring system at her restaurant, ‘Pisco By The Beach,’ in Anjuna village.
The criticism comes as the issue of noise pollution continues to stir controversy in the region.
Local resident Desmond Alvares publicly challenged Lobo, accusing her of not complying with the High Court's 2022 mandate requiring sound monitoring systems in establishments that play music.
"Your restaurant ‘Pisco’ is playing music. Have you installed the sound monitoring system at your place? The High Court had mandated installation of sound monitoring systems in 2022. As an MLA, you should have led by example," Alvares stated.
In response to the allegations, Lobo defended her establishment, asserting that 'Pisco By The Beach' does not play loud music and that, the volume is reduced after 10 pm.
She also clarified that notices regarding the installation of sound monitoring systems have only recently been issued to all restaurants by the Goa State Pollution Control Board.
