A 30-year-old native of West Bengal was arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics drugs in Calangute late Tuesday night, Calangute Police said.
The accused, Jahurul Sarkar, was found with illegal possession of 1,338 grams of Ganja worth Rs 1.33 lakh.
Acting on a specific tip off, a police team led by Calangute PI Nolasco Raposo conducted the raid at Porbawaddo, Calangute.
The contraband was found in the shoulder bag carried by the accused.
Police conducted the panchanama and seized the drugs.
An offence was registered under the NDPS Act against the accused who was later arrested.
“The accused will be produced before the JMFC Mapusa for seeking police custody,” PI Nolasco Raposo said. Police are investigating the case.
