Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be arriving in Goa on April 27 to campaign for the BJP candidates and is likely to address a huge public meeting in Mormugao taluka.

The BJP leaders have already started the process to identify areas in Mormugao taluka for the PM’s public meeting.

BJP State Party President and Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade along with other leaders including former MP Narendra Sawaikar and Damu Naik arrived at Sancoale on Monday afternoon.

They inspected a huge open space opposite the BITS Pilani Campus in Sancoale along with Vasco Mandal President Deepak Naik, Mormugao BJP Mandal President Sanjay Satardekar, Sancoale Sarpanch Girish Pillai, Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav and others.

Later speaking to reporters, Tanavade said the public meeting to be addressed by PM Narendra Modi was planned in South Goa on April 27 and could be held in Mormugao Taluka.

"We are finalising areas where the meeting could be held on April 27. We are now in Sancoale and looking at the huge open space opposite the BITS Pilani Campus in Sancoale because we are expecting around 50,000 people who will attend the meeting and we need to see the area from that perspective,” said Tanavade.

“We are in the process of identifying land and we have seen some area but the final location will soon be confirmed. BJP’s position will be boosted further after the visit of PM Narendra Modi to Goa. BJP has already started its count after one Lok Sabha seat was won in Surat and if we see the environment in the State and the country, I am sure BJP will cross the 400 mark in the nation and Goa will win both MP seats for BJP with a huge margin," said Tanavade.

Former MP Narendra Sawaikar said it was a happy moment that the meeting could happen in Mormugao Taluka.

"It is for the first time that such a huge meeting on such a grand scale by PM Narendra Modi is likely to take place in Mormugao Taluka. The impact of PM Narendra Modi's meeting will be huge," said Sawaikar.
