Police on Monday booked 14 inmates of the Colvale jail for rioting and causing hurt to two other jail inmates on late Sunday evening.
Based on the complaint of Superintendent of Colvale central jail, Gouresh Kurtikar the accused -- Umesh Rathod, Ceon Fernandes, Vikas Rathod (inmates of cell No. 6), Sadiq Bepari, Jaypuri Gosabi, Ranjeet Pal (inmates of cell no. 7), Mubarak Mulla, Mohammad Alam, Vicky barik, Mainuddin Pathan, Anant Gaonkar, Abhishekh Hiremath, Victor Dodamani, Omprakash Tarad (inmates of cell no. 7) were booked by Colvale Police.
According to police, the accused who are inmates/prisoners of central jail with their common object formed an unlawful assembly inside the premises and in furtherance to their common object assaulted Ezeji Nnamdi Kingsley and Onyeka Ejike who are also prisoners of central jail thereby causing injuries to them.
All 14 were booked under section 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 324 (voluntary hurt with dangerous weapons) r/w 149 of the IPC.
