OLD GOA
Former Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) President John Nazareth has demanded a vigilance probe into the recruitment of a staff in the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) as he alleged that the selected person did not possess the requisite qualification for the post.Further, Nazareth has given a time of 10 days to authorities concerned to initiate the probe, failing which he has threatened to go on strike for one hour daily at the Azad Maidan.
Speaking to reporters in Panaji on Tuesday, Nazareth informed that the person was selected as occupational therapy technician in 2010.
“However, at that time the requisite qualification for the post included matriculation and diploma in occupational therapy from a recognised institution,” informed Nazareth and alleged that the person produced a fake certificate of Occupational Therapy course from an institute in Ghatkopar-Mumbai.
“In fact, the course certificate shows that the same was held from August 1991 to September 2001. But, he has produced another certificate in which it is mentioned that he was working at Salvador-do-Mundo from 1999-2001,” Nazareth informed, while questioning how come one person be at two places at the same time.
Citing other irregularities, Nazareth informed that since 2021, he lodged complaint with various authorities including the Prime Minister’s Office, Governor, Chief Minister, Health Minister, Chief Secretary, Health Secretary, Agassaim police station and others.
“However, till date, no action has been taken and the staff continues in service at IPHB,” Nazareth said.
“I demand that the staff be suspended and a vigilance probe be initiated into the matter. If no action is taken in the next 10 days, I will sit on strike for one hour on a daily basis at Azad Maidan,” he informed.
