PWD yet to trim trees leaning ‘dangerously’ on NH-66

PWD yet to trim trees leaning ‘dangerously’ on NH-66

MARGAO
When will the PWD, National Highway move in to trim or cut down the trees leaning on the National Highway 66 on the Chinchinim-Cuncolim stretch between Dandeavaddo and Sarzora?

The monsoon is all set to hit the State anytime, if one goes by the IMD predictions, but the huge trees along the National Highway are all posing danger to vehicular traffic if they come down on the road during the monsoons.

In fact, regular travellers on the National Highway fear the worst this monsoon, saying that winds may uproot several trees on the Sarzora-Panzorconne stretch, which may disrupt heavy traffic on the highway.

Take note, an old tree that had come crashing down on the National Highway at Dandeavaddo-Chinchinim during the cyclonic winds last year had paralysed traffic on the highway for several hours.

In the past, citizens of Dramapur-Sirlim, Dandeavaddo-Chinchinim and Cuncolim had demanded trimming of the tree branches leaning on the highway, but in vain.
