A 42-year-old rider from Panivada-Borim who was undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College hospital after being knocked down by a truck at Borim has succumbed to injuries.
The deceased, Satish Gaude, was government employee posted at the Ponda Deputy Collector’s office, while the truck driver Sayyed Mohamad Rafique (24) has been arrested by Ponda police from Navelim.
According to police, the truck was travelling from Margao to Honda, when it struck a scooter also going in the same direction on a narrow road at Borim.
The scooter rider Satish Gaude was seriously injured and was taken to Sub District Hospital in Ponda, and later shifted to GMC hospital for further treatment, where he breathed his last. Gaude is survived by his wife and a minor daughter.
Ponda PI Tushar Lotlikar conducted the panchanama and investigations are in progress.
