While railway authorities have resumed more than 90% of train services after the Covid lockdown, there are still some services yet to be resumed in Belagavi and Goa region.There has been a rising demand from commuters from Belagavi and Goa to restart the train service between Miraj and Vasco.
While the Citizens Forum, Belagavi under the leadership of activist Satish Tendolkar has been persuading the South Western Railway (SWR) authorities to restart the passenger train service between Vasco and Miraj, Sanvordem-Curchorem Rail Consumers Association under the leadership of its President Devanand Bhandari has presented various demands.
In a letter to SWR authorities, the associations have urged them to restart the Vasco-Miraj daily passenger via Belagavi and the Vasco-MGR Chennai weekly express. They also demanded for the Dudhsagar to be renamed as Shree Sidharudh Swami Express.
The Sanvordem association has also demanded improvement of upgradation and implementation of basic infrastructure, including a reserved quota at Vasco-H Nizamuddin Goa Express at Kopargaon for pilgrims visiting Shirdi.
A copy of the letter has been marked to authorities in Goa.
