With the 1.5-km stretch of road further deteriorating between Dando Junction to Sanguem Police Station, aggrieved residents from Sanguem led by SMC Councillor Messiah (Meshu) Dcosta have given a six-day deadline to PWD authorities to repair the road or to face another agitation.
The 1.5-km stretch of road which was dug to lay a drinking water pipeline was repaired with concrete only after agitations by locals during the last monsoon.
Now almost exactly after a year, the road is now badly damaged with potholes all over the concrete portion of the road, posing a threat to motorists and commuters.
According to locals, four road mishaps have already taken place in the area.
Locals got agitated all after two youth met with an accident at Dando-Sanguem late Tuesday evening, after the motorists collided with each other.
Immediately after the accident, residents from Sanguem led by D’Costa got together and demanded immediate repair of the road.
D’Costa has given a six-day ultimatum to authorities to repair the road, failing which residents have threatened an agitation.
“It looks as if the government is testing the patience of people from Sanguem as every time they need to resort to an agitation to get their demands resolved,” D’Costa told The Goan.
Residents also sought to know what had happened to the much-talked Jet Patcher machine introduced by the State government to repair potholes.
