VASCO
Santos Passos (‘Holy Steps’), which depicts the sufferings of Jesus on the way to Calvary, was held with traditional fervour at St Lawrence Chapel, Arossim, Cansaulim.
Hundreds of devotees took part in the service, which commenced with the celebration of the Eucharist.
The fourth Passos ‘Ecce Home’ was portrayed and taken for procession which included three stops marked with reflection and singing of motets (a short piece of sacred choral music).
Ecce Home (behold the man) are the Latin words used by Pontius Pilate when he presents a scourged Jesus with the crowned thorns to the crowd before His Crucifixion. The third stop marked the meeting of Jesus to His mother Mary.
The Veronica singing was done by Akishia Fernandes and music was accompanied by Aaryan Da Silva on the violin.
