Mandrem Sarpanch Amit Sawant stopped a number of illegal music parties which were being held on the occasion of International Women’s Day and Holi.
According to sources, some hotel owners had taken permission, while others did not. On the pretext of celebrating Holi, some hotels were found organising music parties and blaring loud music, while there were traffic jams in the area.
When informed about these illegal parties, Sawant visited a number of venues and directed the organisers to stop the parties if they did not have permissions. Some organisers stopped the parties after being warned of strict action.
Later speaking to media persons, Sawant said one club in Ashwem was given one month’s permit by the Pernem deputy collector.
“Whether such permits fit within the law needs to be investigated,” said Sawant.
He warned that the panchayat would take strict action against those indulging in illegal music parties, noise pollution and other illegal activities.
