PANAJI
Fatalities continued to contribute to Goa's high Covid-19 mortality rate with four more deaths reported in the Wednesday-Thursday bulletin spiking the pandemic toll to 630 even as new infections declined.
Authorities, however, are keeping their fingers crossed as new surges in cases were being reported across India and the world as winter began setting in and the festive season fueling crowds to market places and contributing to higher transmission.
The health department's bulletin reported 172 new cases on Thursday from 1,586 tests done. It also reported that 238 people were cured bringing down the active Covid-19 infected and recovering at hospitals and in home isolation down to 2,065.
