Taxi operators' agitation likely to intensify

PANAJI
The agitation of local taxi operators with a demand to scrap app-based cab service GoaMiles has now taken a political turn with the opposition parties as well as some leaders from BJP supporting the agitating taximen criticizing the government heavily.

This agitation is expected to aggravate more with the support of parties that are looking at it as an opportunity to create an atmosphere against the government with an eye on the 2020 assembly elections.

With the growing support from Congress, MGP, Goa Forward, Aam Aadmi Party the agitation is expected to aggravate.

On Saturday various party leaders descended at Azad Maidan and extended their support to the agitation. Congress leader Girish Chodankar, Amarnath Panajikar, AAP's Pratima Coutinho, MGP's Deepak Dhavlikar came at Azad Maidan and extended their support to the agitating taxi owners.

The taxi owners' organization have warned of intensifying the agitation if their demand is not met. While the government is firm on its stand of not scrapping GoaMiles.
