Stating that his steadfastness and conviction resulted in a positive outcome in the Serula land grab case, complainant Trajano D’Mello said although it took eight long years, justice had been done with the court ordering the registering of FIR against the former tourism minister and others.
D’Mello demanded a judicial inquiry into the entire Serula land grab case along with a police investigation.
“Police immediately register a case against common men. But when it comes to politicians and powerful persons they hesitate to register the complaints. We have got justice after 8 years 8 months 6 days because of my persistence,” D’Mello said while addressing the media in Mapusa.
He said that judgement shows that the long arms of the law will not spare anyone.
He further said that the High Court had directed Parulekar that if the property was acquired illegally then it should be returned to the comunidade. He said the shops constructed by the former tourism minister were still standing tall in the same place.
“We will file a contempt petition in the High Court," D’Mello said.
