Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has suspended two nurses at Goa Dental College following complaints from patients.
During his surprise inspection at the hospital on Thursday, Rane came across complaints from several patients with regards to the two nurses, Soniya Kerkar and Nikita Naik.
"Both have been suspended with immediate effect. I have tendered a strict warning to the staff, instructed them that the patients are our top priority. I would like to take this opportunity to mention that the Dean (Dr Ida) and her team of doctors and staff are doing a commendable job at Dental College," he said in a statement issued on his social media page.
The minister emphasised that their focus is on improving the infrastructure; and setting up 24/7 emergency set-up. Plans are underway to shift the entire facility at the new Dental College building with enhanced facilities.
"I shall also be having a discussion with CM Pramod Sawant, regarding certain shortcomings that I discovered today during the inspection, so that together, with his advice we will be able to ensure that the dental college can provide the best possible care to the people of Goa," he said.
