Unemployment has become the biggest issue in Goa and has hit the BJP govt like a tonne of bricks, says the Aam Aadmi Party. Youth across the state have been demanding jobs which the BJP has been unable to provide. Goenkars were hit by a double whammy of the pandemic plus lockdown as many tourism based and allied businesses suffered. Mining which has been closed for years now has added to the stress of mining dependents and average Goenkars, the party said in its press release as AAP wrapped up its Rozgar campaign in the state,
All this while the BJP has used two excuses for Goenkars, AAP said. Excuse 1 is that they will provide 10,000 jobs. This excuse has been peddled and recycled every month and every election with no fruition in sight. Excuse 2 is that youth are sitting at home wasting their degrees. The Govt which has failed to find jobs or train youth in employable skills tried to blame its failure on youth themselves.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in his visit last month to Goa has announced his guarantee of providing employment to every youth if the Aam Aadmi Party government is formed in the state. He said that every youth will be given employment after the formation of the AAP government and till the employment is not provided, one youth of every family will be given Rs 3,000 per month. He announced that 80 per cent of jobs in the private sector will be reserved for the youth of Goa. Rs 5,000 would be provided monthly to families who lost employment due to shutdown of tourism and mining.
The party said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the setting up of skill universities. In doing this, he has directly copied Kejriwal's announcement at the beginning of the month that he would set up a Skill University on the lines of DSEU.
Kejriwal further said that AAP will bring an end to nepotism in government jobs in Goa and the jobs will be made available to the common man.
AAP's Rozgar Yatra that saw the party take this down to the grassroots of Goa and to every Goan home saw mass participation by Goenkars. AAP held 75 booth meetings a day each attended by hundreds of Goenkars while also holding 2 Assembly level rallies in a day.
"No matter how much the BJP attacks us they know only AAP has the solutions. And today even Goenkars know this. That's why rather than go for these cheap duplicates they will vote directly for AAP" said AAP Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre.
