Verna police have arrested two persons on charges of robbing a gold chain from an elderly woman while she was travelling on a two-wheeler.
According to reports, the woman, a resident of Cortalim, had filed a complaint on January 11 stating that she was travelling with her son-in-law along with her infant grandson on a scooter, when a person on a bike snatched her gold chain after pushing her.
She fell and got injured in the incident.
Verna police registered a case of robbery under Section 394 IPC.
A police team led by Police Inspector Sherif Jaques developed leads and after sustained efforts, arrested two accused persons, Hussain Shaikh Raichur (20) and Ashpak Kadur (24), both from New Vaddem, Vasco.
The accused have been found to be involved in another gold chain snatching case registered on October 28, 2020, police said.
The gold worth Rs 1 lakh has been recovered and the scooter used in the offence has been seized from the accused. Further investigation is in progress.
