Vijai flays opposition to dump inert waste at KTC bus stand

MARGAO

Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Friday said if the government does not want to allow the dumping of inert from the Sonsodo legacy dump at the Margao KTC bus stand, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo should take the waste either to Sanquelim or Calangute.

He warned that disposing of the inert generated during the bio-remediation of the Sonsodo legacy dump is the responsibility of the government, adding that he and the Margao Municipality has been only lending assistance for the smooth disposal of the inert.

“There’s opposition to the dumping of inert at the KTC bus stand. One should remember that the inert is being dumped at the property by the government through the Goa Waste Management Corporation. The Margao Municipality has only identified the land and is assisting so that the inert from Sonsodo is disposed of”, he said, adding that the Chief Minister and the Waste Management Minister should take the waste to their constituencies if they are opposing dumping of the inert at the KTC property.

The Goa forward Chief also took potshots at the BJP for taking credit over the ongoing vaccination exercise.
