VALPOI: The usual hordes of visitors to the various waterfalls in the forested areas of Sattari taluka have now stopped completely, following a forest department order on July 11 prohibiting visitors from entering waterfalls and rivers inside wildlife sanctuaries.
Guards have been deployed at various waterfalls in Sattari to enforce the order.
When contacted, Mhadei Sanctuary Officer Girish Bailudkar said no one has been permitted to enter the waterfalls inside the sanctuary.
“We are strictly enforcing the order and action will be taken against those violating the order and entering the waterfalls,” said Bailudkar.
Incidentally, some campers of the Youth Hostel of India undertook a cleanliness drive and collected waste from various waterfalls in the area.
