PORVORIM
The water pipeline which supplies raw water to the Porvorim water treatment plant got ruptured during the excavation of an underground power line at the Socorro-Sangolda junction on Thursday afternoon.
Since this is a main water pipeline, huge amounts of water began gushing out from the ruptured pipe. Officials then stopped water supply from the Assnora water purification project to Porvorim. Due to damaged pipeline, the reservoir of water treatment plant at Porvorim did not receive water in the afternoon.
When contacted, sources from the PWD mentioned that they were at the site and are carrying out the repairs of the water pipeline. The repair work is expected to be over by night and water supply to the water treatment plant will be resumed thereafter, said a source.
