Bicholim Deputy Collector Deepak Vaingankar on Sunday called upon organisations like the Shiksha Vision to continue their work for the betterment of students and society.
He was addressing a function of the Shiksha Vision to felicitate meritorious students from Bicholim town and the inauguration of the Shiksha Vision Saunstha at the Hirabai Zantye Memorial hall in Bicholim.
Others present on the occasion included Purshottam Walawalkar HSS former principal Subhash Naik, Dr Dinesh Amonkar and Dr Chandrakant Shetye.
“Parents and teachers should work together to ensure a better future for students, while students should work hard to achieve their goal and must also work towards nation building,” said Vaiganakar.
Delivering his keynote address, Subhash Naik voiced concern over the declining standards of education in the State and said a recent survey had indicated that students have been lagging in maths and science.
“We need to strengthen the foundation of education and in this regard, dedication, hard work and mental fitness is necessary among students. They must set their goals and work hard to achieve them,” said Naik.
Describing Shiksha Vision as a unique organisation which can influence parents, students and teachers to come together for the all round development of students, Naik emphasised the importance of career guidance.
“Parents should not pressurise students in the selection of an education stream,” he added.
Dr Dinesh Amonkar said Shiksha Vision would work in the area of education, social and cultural activities, health and other sectors to promote the welfare of society.
“Students should work hard with dedication to achieve success and Shiksha Vision will work to motivate and mentor the students and will give them all the required assistance,” said Dr Amonkar.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dr Chandrakant Shetye said Shiksha Vision would provide all help to those in need and would also give special coaching in various competitive examinations.
On the occasion, meritorious students from SSC, HSSC, graduation, post graduation, MBBS and engineering were felicitated by the guests.
Others present at the event included Dr Praveen Sawant, Narayan Betkikar and Naganath Gosavi. While Yasmin Aga compered the programme, while Prashant Chanekar proposed the vote of thanks.
