PONDA
Mardol police have arrested Shashikant Mahadev Gawde (22) of Phanaswadi-Naveli on Sunday night in connection with the theft of 411 centering sheet plates used for construction purposes in Kundaim.
The contractor Sevinder Kohli had filed a complaint at the police station on Sunday evening, and police have also seized the vehicle used to steal the plates.
The contractor who had undertaken the building work at Kundaim had hired the centering plates on rental basis.
On May 5, the contractor had seen the accused keeping the plates in a vehicle but the driver had fled from the spot. No complaint was filed at that time as the contractor had to go to Sawantwadi for work.
After returning on Sunday evening, the contractor filed a complaint at the Mardol police station.
The police then arrested the accused and also seized the vehicle which was used to steal the centering plates.
Sub-Inspector Sushant Sangodkar and Constable Suraj Gawde are investigating the case under the guidance of Mardol Police Inspector Yogesh Sawant.
