Chief Minister Pramod Sawant took to Twitter to announce that a “full-fledged State Election Commissioner (SEC) will now be appointed as per the SC order.
As per the instruction of the court, a full-fledged State Election Commissioner (SEC) will be appointed. Presently, the state law secretary was given additional charge as SEC.
Sawant said that it is a precedent in most of the States to appoint an in-service IAS or Government official as SEC. “There were no specific instructions thus far. Now that the court has given instructions, we will follow those,” Sawant said.
