The mining affected truck owners may have to wait for a fewmore months for compensation, as the state government has not yet formulatedcompensation package for the truck owners.
Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar told the House thatcompensation for 9700 trucks registered with Goa Electronic Ltd, as per thedirection of Department of Mines and Geology, has not been formulated yet.
Parrikar was replying to Santa Cruz MLA, AtanasioMonserate’s query if nearly 27000-odd trucks plying in mining areas would be entitledfor compensation.
The chief minister said that nearly 9700 registered truckswould get compensation and when mining resumes, only the registered truckowners would be given preference.
When some BJP legislators asked if the government wasplanning to give extension for registration of trucks, the CM replied in theaffirmative.
“Truck owners who were left out will be allowed to register,but government will not compensate owners who own fleet of trucks. There arepeople who own more than 50 trucks, they don’t need compensation,” Parrikarsaid.
