Another faux truth bomb about Mahatma Gandhi

Our venerable PM Narendra Modi dropped another faux truth bomb yesterday by claiming that the world was not aware of Mahatma Gandhi till Richard Attenborough's 1982 film was released. For good measure he added that he deduced this after his travels worldwide and in the same breath blamed the opposition for not disseminating information about Gandhi over the past 75 years. Only a graduate in Entire Political Science would need to watch a film to know about the Mahatma, as a prominent leader said. Even Einstein had acknowledged Gandhi as the greatest human being of the 20th century ; it is very reprehensible and tragic that an intellectual pygmy from our own country tarnishes the great man's legacy. But all this is part of a grand design by the PM to erase public memory of all true freedom fighters and replace it with dubious 'heroes' like Godse, Savarkar and of course himself. The constituency Modi addresses laps it all up as the gospel truth, nevermind that the country is hurtling towards being a banana republic. In the past too Modi has spouted such lies, in new India it is very difficult to spin a yarn of truth. Sad.
