The garbage problem in Goa has become a headache for the government and Goans as every nook and corner of the State is filled with garbage which emanates foul smell.
This may turn into an epidemic situation if the problem is not tackled immediately as each and every village is becoming a Sonsodo. What is really disturbing and shocking to see in the early morning is that every villager who has a motorcycle brings with him a plastic bag full of garbage and throws it in another village road making it dirty.
In days gone by, our forefathers used to burn the dry waste and the wet waste would be used as manure for plants. This doesn't happen nowadays and now everyone tries to dispose the waste on the roadside.
It’s time the panchayats take note of this problem else our villages will also become like our cities.
