Goa is getting a lot of "double engine" publicity with regards to being a magnet for criminals, drug gangs and specific tourists who have total disregard/contempt for the laws in Goa! Then you have the Goa police, being constantly shamed on the "war on drugs" by more efficient police from other parts of India. In my view, there are 2 main root causes of the above consequences: Huge flow of unregulated money into Goa from outside which the Goa Ministers/MLAs are too happy to cash on for their personal wealth and political agendas; The open secret that Goa is one of the most corrupt states in India led by the Ministers from the top. Saying all this however let us accept that the bottom line is the fault of the Goan electorate who keep on voting for the same corrupt/incompetent entities despite being well aware of their tainted credentials. So if we want to start seeing some positive changes in Goa please: start at the ballot box be it central, state, municipality or panchayat elections; secondly. where possible let's start speaking up, protesting, exercising our democratic rights, taking legal action or atleast supporting those who do.
