Hats off to Korgao, Dhargal VPs for ban on widow customs

The Village Panchayats of Korgao and Dhargal have passed resolutions to ban all widow customs in their jurisdiction. In Solapur, Latadevi Borade, widowed at 19 has been creating awareness against such customs. Social activists kicked in and VP’s Head and Mangaon passed similar resolutions.

RGP is planning for its POGO Bill, striving to justify its non-Trojan sobriquet. They can also introduce a Bill claiming part of Mars for Goa -- it being an international tourist destination -- never mind how the coastal belt, handed over to TTAG on a platter, has fared. Let's hope they get all of Goa to ban the widow customs. With Goa’s planned BJP culture of late night parties, EDMs, casinos and massage parlours, court allowed co-habiting etc. surely these customs must go? The CM must come clean on the same. As an aside, what if a Christian denomination approached all widows and explained to them their rights? Would it be construed as acts of conversion and interfering with another religion? The Crime branch needs to be on its toes as mere BJP-style steamrolling can come a cropper!
