Out-migration of Goans does not bode well for State

Goa just observed its 55th anniversary of the historic Opinion Poll Day when Goans in 1967 fought to keep Goa as a separate state in India. However, the question we must all ask ourselves is will Goa remain as a separate state and unique identity in the years to come? Yes, I appreciate there are many challenges that Goa is facing today but the ability of Goans to address/improve on the same is being very severely affected by the gradual mass (permanent) out-migration of Goans.

In my extensive global travels/stays globally including many countries, from USA/UK in the West to Japan in the East, I have found out that "grass is not always green on the other side".  Goa still has a lot of potential and positive things, which sadly many Goans do not appreciate, realise and take pride in. The migration is also accelerating the destruction of Goa with many Goans selling off prized properties, many easily inherited from their hardworking ancestors, to others from outside Goa or destructive real estate agents in Goa; whose sole objective is only to make profit at any cost.
