Encroachment on Benaulim beach by shacks is rampant. As it is, sand erosion by wave action during the monsoons has further reduced the width of the beach and makes it hardly usable for beachgoers.
Now shacks and beachfront establishments are blatantly putting up fences and taking in part of the beach for their private businesses.
Earlier this was observed on Mobor and adjoining beaches but now it is rampant at Benaulim beach too.
Earlier illegal deck beds and dining tables were put on the sand by shacks but now this blatant usurping of the beachfront is a cause for extreme worry.
Will the village panchayat or the law enforcement authorities put in their might to end this?
