World Goa Day in principle is a good thing to have Goans to connect as a community and to Goa; but does it only have to stop at music, cultural activities, food, alcohol, fun and frolic?
Goa today is at a crisis stage on various fronts with few activists/organizations fighting hard (with hardly any support even from most Goans including overseas/expat Goans) to save what is left of Goa. Sadly, most other Goans are simply not bothered; other than the “social and fun” part of being Goan! All this for me makes World Goa Day more of an absolute hypocrisy rather than actual love for land of our ancestors.
