It was shocking to hear of the incident where 2 minor girls were raped by four men near the Benaulim beach a few days ago. The two girls were out with friends for a birthday celebration, where the accused came as policemen raped them and demanded money.
Looking at the present situation, our State is not a safe place anymore not only for the tourists but also for Goans.
It would be in the fitness of things that our youngsters must also adhere to their own safety and resist from venturing out at night in such places.
One cannot expect police to be present anywhere and everywhere. They too are human beings like you and me.
The State government, police, advocates and courts must take immediate action and give the accused exemplary punishment so that such incidents do not occur again.
There are laws in our country but everyone knows that these cases drag for years together and in some cases the accused are also let free for want of evidence.
