Bhagat Singh - folk hero of independence movement

My rich tributes to Bhagat Singh who was martyred by the British at a young age of 23. As India observed his birth anniversary on 28 September, every Indian needs to emulate the qualities of a true patriot that Bhagat Singh was.

Born on 28 September 1907 in Punjab, Bhagat Singh joined the Indian independence movement where he came in contact with other prominent leaders like Chandrashekar Azad, Rajguru and others.

In college, he studied the European revolutionary movements which inspired him immensely. He read many articles about the European nationalist movements.

Due to his involvement in various revolutionary activities British police arrested him in May 1927. After a few months he was released from jail and again he involved himself in writing revolutionary articles for newspapers.

Bhagat Singh was indeed a true patriot. Not only he fought for the freedom of the country but also he had no qualms giving away his life for the independence of this country. We remember him as Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
